Tropical Seed was the pioneer company to enter the vegetable seed and seed potato markets in Sri Lanka. We are a distinguished agriculture company with a wealth of experience that has been acquired over three and half decades in the industry. Our success can be undoubtedly attributed to a dynamic management team and work force.

Tropical Seed virtually monopolized the vegetable seed and seed potato industries in Sri Lanka in the yester years holding a wealth of agencies. Some of Tropical Seed Company’s past agencies included Sakata, Kyowa, Kirchoff, Sluis and Groot etc., for vegetable seeds and Bohm, Hettema, Wolf and Wolf etc., for potato seeds. By evaluating its core competencies against agencies/principals it represented and by wanting to negate its monopoly in the industry Tropical Seed chose to represent only a carefully selected number of corporate international companies.

Currently we hold the rights as the sole agents and distributors for Takii (Japan), Vilmorin - Lima Grain Group (France) in the vegetable seed industry and represents reputed companies such as Agrico (Netherlands) in the potato seeds arena.
